About Us
The North American Women's Baseball League (NAWBL) is a competitive developmental baseball league based north of Boston. NAWBL provides an opportunity for girls and women to play baseball, a sport generally reserved for boys and men. Our league has local, national, and international goals and visions. The ultimate goal is reaching the day when skilled female athletes are playing in a nationally organized "league of their own."
Our Neighborhood
On the local level, we are working to establish ourselves in the Metro Boston and North Shore communities. One major area of focus is promoting girls and women in sports. Participation in athletics develops self-esteem, breeds committment, cultivates leadership skills, and improves physical health. In fact, female athletes often grow to become leaders in the workplace. As an organization led by women, we look to provide local youth programs with the skills necessary to succeed through clinics, seminars, workshops, and other means.
If you would like members of the NAWBL to visit your school or youth program, contact us at nawbl@nawbl.org to schedule a time.
Major League (Women's) Baseball?
There are over a dozen women's baseball leagues in the United States operating in almost every major region, from here in New England to the Great Lakes area, south and west to Florida and California. All operate independently of one another during their respective seasons. However, national tournaments are held a few times each year to facilitate competition between these regional leagues.
NAWBL hopes to work alongside other independent leagues to one day unite and create one league with representative teams throughout the country.
The American Women's Baseball Federation is also working toward this goal.
